Common problems encountered with industrial aluminum profiles and solutions

1.The extrusion temperature of industrial aluminum profiles is too low, and the extrusion speed is too slow, so the profile temperature at the press outlet does not reach the solid solution temperature, and the solid solution strengthening effect cannot be achieved;

Solution: reasonably control the extrusion temperature and extrusion speed so that the profile outlet temperature at the press remains above the minimum solid solution temperature;

2.There are too few fans at the outlet of the industrial aluminum profile, and the air volume is insufficient, resulting in slow cooling speed, which prevents the industrial aluminum profile from being cooled below 200℃ in the shortest possible time, causing coarse Mg2Si to precipitate too early, thereby reducing the solid solution phase and affecting the mechanical properties after heat treatment;

Solution: strengthen the air-cooling conditions; if conditions permit, factories can install mist cooling devices to meet the minimum requirements for the cooling gradient of 6063 alloy;

3.The ingot composition is unqualified, and the magnesium and silicon content in the ingot does not meet the standard requirements;

Solution: strengthen quality management of the ingot;

4.The ingot was not homogenized, so the Mg2Si precipitated in the ingot structure cannot be re-dissolved within a relatively short extrusion time, resulting in insufficient solid solution and affecting product performance;

Solution: carry out homogenization treatment on the ingot;

5.The aging process is improper, the hot-air circulation is not smooth, or the thermocouple is installed in the wrong position, resulting in insufficient aging or over-aging.

Solution: reasonably determine the aging process, correctly install the thermocouple, and properly place the industrial aluminum profile to ensure smooth hot-air circulation.
